Little About Me

Hello, my  name is Samuel, and although the phrase "Wondering Wanderer" captures a big part of my philosophical self, I believe it is warranted that I share enough about myself to expect to be taken seriously.

I grew up in a Christian family, the younger of two siblings, son to a pastor of a Pentecostal Congregation, situated in a small city in eastern India. As my dad often says "...being born in a Christian family doesn't make one a Christian; just as being born in a garage doesn't make one a car...". Though this is quite true, being born in a believing family, is one of the ways that God uses to bring people into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. This definitely was true in my case.

However, I believe that there comes a point in every believer's life when Jesus asks them to step out of their basic understanding of "Christianity" into a journey with Him. He calls them to convert their limited knowledge of Him into a first hand personal experience with Him. He desires to transform their understanding of Christianity, to stop being a collection of concepts, so that it can then become a daily relationship with Him; one which causes them to continuously grow, learn and act according to His will. God got a hold of me in such a way during my early post university years. He has changed quite a lot in me since then, and if I understand scripture correctly, He will continue to do so as He continues to walk beside me in this Journey. One thing is for sure: I've learnt that in this journey, I ought to be following Jesus, rather than trying to tag Him along where I want to be.

As far as career goes, I am a software programmer by profession, and this reality surfaces time and again when my geeky-ness comes through quite strongly in my vocabulary and thought process. I am currently settled in a small city in Canada where I live with my wonderful wife and adorable son, and attend a church where I believe God has assigned me a purpose.
